How I plan to learn Chinese...

 Hi, guise!

For those of you who don't have me on Facebook yet, I have Chinese Mandarin (Putonghua) as a subject at University now and our Professor recently gave us individually chosen Chinese names. My name is 安琪 and is spelt as "Ān qí" in Pin Yin.

However, I'm a bit nervous about learning this language, because it is a bit different than what I thought it would be like. Professor Tan is very precise and wants us to speak Chinese clearly. So I went onto the internet on this rainy afternoon (yes, it's raining!  ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ ) and found a learning system that could be quite helpful with picking up the accent and dialect.

The main principle is learning Chinese through your subconsciousness. This can also be called subliminal learning or subliminal stimuli. How does this work?

Your regular conscious way of learning is through repeated experience and practice; through this process the new information will be stored deep within your mind on an unconscious level. This is how we learn to ride a bicycle, learn math, or even develop our confidence and establish self beliefs for example.
Subliminal learning bypasses this conscious experience and practice stage and sends information directly to your unconscious mind. If the same subliminal messages are sent frequently enough this will lead to the same outcome, i.e. a shift in your self beliefs. The only difference is that the shift comes naturally, from within!
We are all exposed to subliminal messages every day due to the massive amounts of information we are exposed to, and our limited capacity to consciously register it. As a result this may lead to small changes in our minds, or over time if you are exposed to the same subliminal information over and over then there will be lasting changes.
Listening to a subliminal messaging album is simply a way to counteract this and take control. By targeting subliminal messages consistently at your mind, in larger and focused quantities you can make positive changes in areas of your choice.
Subliminal audio can be used to improve any area of your life - from deep internal changes, to improvements in the physical body. For example, you can increase your motivation, boost your self esteem, treat illnesses and phobias, the possibilities are endless - even subliminal language learning is possible!
We will now go into the principles behind subliminal messaging and the technical side of how subliminal messaging works. The simplest way to show how subliminal messaging works is to describe it in relation to a more common form of mind programming - hypnosis. - http://www.realsubliminal.com/how-subliminal-learning-works
I downloaded a few pronunciation mp3s (here) that handles the basics and tried to sleep on it. That experiment failed horribly, because I couldn't fall asleep on the nonrhythmic voices in my ears. Today I have a new theory (I have the weekend to test them aka: 2 nights)! Music! There are a lot of Chinese Mandarin songs waiting to be listened to by eager foreigners *wait... that sounds creepy* Moving on!

*Here* is one of the sites I found. It lists the latest Chinese music along with a player to listen to it and the lyrics in English, Pin Yin and Kanji!

Then, how could my Vocaloid otaku heart forget, there is Luo Tianyi! I downloaded her songs from Soundcloud.com.

My plan of action?
Place the lullaby-like music at the top of my playlist and the pronunciation lessons at the bottom so that I can fall asleep on the music and remain asleep when the annoying voices enter my brain.

Does that sound like a theory that might work? Let me know! And, if you've tried this sleep-learning method, how did it work for you?
